Must I own the shares before the XD date?

Normally, yes. Buying on or after the ex-dividend (XD) date does not entitle you to that announced distribution. Verify eligibility in the official announcement.

What if no dividend is currently announced?

KopiBull shows no estimate. It does not insert a sample amount or assume that a past dividend will be repeated.
